ABOUT COMMON THREAD

Volunteers.jpg

Common Thread is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

Many teens within the community have been impacted by foster care and-or other similar lived experiences. Trauma research reveals healing and recovery from trauma to be impossible without lasting, caring connections to others. Common Thread seeks to provide a welcoming, safe, trauma-informed space to provide connection, community, skill-building, and free resources to transform trajectories.

Our community is teen-centered, gender-affirming, diverse, and committed to a trauma-informed approach. Common Thread hosts free community events twice a month and offers free mental health resources and programs for teens ages 12 and up. From pottery, paddle-boarding, and summer outdoor movies to equine-assisted group work, art classes, and free group therapy, Common Thread is working hard to support mental health, build connection, and foster resilience within the community.

A pivotal piece of our organizational structure is our Teen Advisory Board. We have 15 teens with various lived experiences who meet once a month. Common Thread seeks to ensure this is community for teens, led by teens. We are passionate about creating a space for those connected by this common thread.

We look forward to connecting with you.
