About the event
We have an incredible opportunity with National Ability Center to do Equine Therapy for 30 teens. Common Thread will be covering all of the expenses so it will be FREE to teens. We will have an internal therapist support in debriefing for anything that comes up. Water and snacks will be provided.
Equine-assisted Learning is an experiential learning model incorporating horses and the equine environment to benefit participants. As prey animals, horses are aware of their environment and sensitive to human emotions. Our trained facilitators guide individuals and groups through human/horse interactions to build skills such as self-awareness and communication and improve interpersonal relationships.
Equine Assisted Learning is unmounted and teens will work one-on-one with the horses on the ground. They will brush horses, paint them, give them baths, learn to lead, observe and identify horse behavior, and help learn to bond with their horses. Overall the teens will have a fun and engaging way to interact with horses.
